Artist Norm Breyfogle, a favorite among comics fans for his incredible work on Batman in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, has also illustrated Batman Beyond, The Spectre, Superman, The Escapist, Green Lantern, Archie, and more.

Breyfogle first broke into the comics business after Mike Friedrich saw his work displayed at the 1984 San Diego ComiCon. He first penciled a six-page story for DC’s New Talent Showcase and then went on to work on First Comics’ American Flagg series, Eclipse Comics’ Tales of Terror, a Captain America story in Marvel Fanfare and finally (beginning in 1986) his first monthly title, Whisper, for First Comics.

Beginning in 1987, Breyfogle began what would become a six-year run on Batman, illustrating Detective Comics from 1987 – 1990 and then moving over to the Batman tittle from 1990 to 1992, then concluding his run with the new title Shadow of the Bat from 1992 – 1993. Most notable among these years was his illustration of the new Robin in Batman as well as his Batman: Holy Terror Elseworlds story and the Batman: Birth of the Demon graphic novel which told in detail the origin of one of Batman’s greatest foes, Ra’s al Ghul.

Most recently, Breyfogle has returned to work on Batman, though this time on Batman Beyond, with the further adventures of the animated spin-off from Batman: The Animated Series.
