JOSE DELBO

Beginning in 1962 with Dell/Gold Key’s iconic Twilight Zone comic series, Argentina born Jose Delbo (1933 – ) has been active in comics ever since (most recently illustrating in the 2011 Boris Karlof Tales of Mystery Archives).  His career spans not only numerous super hero titles but, in addition to the afore mentioned Twilight Zone, several other television and animated related comic adaptations, including Get Smart, The Lone Ranger, Thundercats, The Beverly Hillbillies, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and Transformers.

His most notable super hero work took place at DC, where he  illustrated Wonder Woman on over a dozen covers and in over 50 interior stores. He also worked on other DC mainstays such as Superman and Batman as well as select issues of DC’s horror titles, including House of Mystery, House of Secrets, and Witching Hour. At Marvel, his credits include illustrating Spider-Man, SuperPro, Marvel Comics Presents, and Conan, among others.

In 2013, Delbo was the recipient of one of the San Diego ComiCon’s coveted Inkpot Awards for a lifetime of service to the comics industry.
