Elric first appeared in print in Michael Moorcock’s novella “The Dreaming City” in (Science Fantasy No. 47, released in June of 1961). A doomed albino antihero, Elric is a sorcerer, emperor of Melniboné and has become one of the most popular characters in fantasy literature, ranking among such famed fantasy heroes as Solomon Kane, Kull, and Conan. In addition to the original stories (which have been continuously in print since the 1970’s), Elric has appeared in role-playing games, music, film, and, of course, comics. Like Conan before him, Elric’s graphic debut occurred under the pen of writer Roy Thomas (in Conan The Barbarian #14, 1972) and Thomas would go on to write the character in numerous other series, including Elric: Sailor on the Seas of FateElric: The Weird of the White Wolf as well as the story this particular original art page is from, the 1987-1988 series Elric: The Vanishing Tower.  Measuring 11 by 17 inches, this splash page features the artwork of Jan Duursema.  In excellent condition, it will be shipped with the utmost care.
