Young Indiana Jones Original Art Pg. 2 Issue #11

With story by Dan Barry, pencils by Gordon Purcell and inks by Louis Daniel, this original art page is from issue 11 of Dark Horse Comics’ The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles from February, 1993. The comic series adapted its stories from the television shows, with this particular issue focusing on young Indy’s adventure and sickness in Peking in 1910. The page is signed by the artist, Gordon Purcell. Of note about this page, it is (as best I can determine from my research), from the last published story Dan Barry ever worked on. Barry began his career in the 1940’s and, along with his brother Sy Barry (longtime Phantom artist), and fellow artists Stan Drake (The Heart of Juliet Jones) and Leonard Starr (Little Orphan Annie), helped create and exemplify the artistic style that defined the era from the 1940’s until Jack Kirby’s latter work at Marvel took center-stage. Barry’s credits included such prestigious characters as Doc Savage, Tarzan, and Flash Gordon, among many others, and his final works included Predator and, of course, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles for Dark Horse. The page measures approximately 11 by 17 inches, is in excellent condition, and will be shipped with the utmost care. Please note- it is an actual, original piece of hand-drawn art. It is not a copy, print or pre-printed image. It is a one-of-a-kind original!
