Captain Midnight appeared in comics, newspaper strips, film, and – under the name Jet Jackson, Flying Commando – television. But it first appeared as a adventure series broadcast during the Golden Age of Radio. The series ran from 1938 to 1949 and not only thrilled radio listeners but also offered them a wide range of premiums including rings, telescopes, and World War II related items. Perhaps most popular of the premiums, however, were the decoder badges. These so-called Code-O-Graphs were used by listeners to decipher encrypted messages previewing the next episode. Sponsors included Skelly Oil, and, of Little Orphan Annie fame, Ovaltine. Still remembered by fans, in 2010, Moonstone Books published a collection of new Captain Midnight stories under the title Captain Midnight Chronicles. This decoder badge, from the 1941 season of the series, is in excellent condition and will be shipped with the utmost care.
